When one door closes, another can quickly open.  In this case it was one day before the busiest night in the DJ industry when Teresa sent us a text message that she was having a New Year’s Eve party with her friends at a pizza restaurant in Washington, D. C. and she wanted DJ Jarrod to be there!

2014-12-31 20.29.28Jarrod originally met Teresa back in 2002 while working with the Washington Kastles as a back-up DJ.  Jarrod became the regular DJ the next season, but the couple of meetings with Teresa led to many fun events, including one earlier this summer for Women’s Golf Month.

Teresa has begun working in similar circles to DJ Jarrod which meant some of the attendees knew the DJ before they even arrived.  And when they arrived, they came ready to party.  The restaurant, Fuel Pizza & Wings at 1620 K Street NW is a two-floor facility in which the upper floor was converted from a dining space to a very nice party space.  The concrete walls and ceiling were perfect for sound amplification and the layout of the floor allowed some to sit and relax while others filled the dance floor.  It was a busy night!

2015-01-01 00.11.23This wasn’t your typical, meet-and-greet-for-an-hour kind of party with cocktail hour, this party started at 9 p.m. and it STARTED.  Everyone came to celebrate the new year including Teresa, whose birthday is January 1.  When the guest of honor arrived, she found the space enhanced with a special “Happy Birthday” gobo projected on the wall, while dance lights illuminated the dance floor.

Omar, the manager of this location, was fantastic to work with as he assisted with several elements of the night.  From moving furniture and decorations, to serving as bartender, and making sure we were taken care of at all times, he was fantastic.  The food at Fuel Pizza is also terrific, as we’ve enjoyed pizza, wings and garlic knots at this and other area locations.

As the night crescendoed to midnight, DJ Jarrod started to rile up the guests while a countdown played on the TV screens.  At midnight, the guests welcomed the New Year to the sound of Guy Lombardo’s “Auld Lang Syne” before transitioning to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”.  Most of the night centered around 90’s music, hip hop, rap, cool jams and some dance music.  The dance floor was packed all night and it was a blast.
